The greatest apocalypse since the sniffles destroyed the world.
This on the other hand, is pretending like it is having some kind of big ending arc, but the key word there is pretending. The first two thirds of the episode is spent on recap; the regular red blood cell giving a new one a tour of everything and milking as much as we can out of the vet being clueless and flustered and the rookie not. There’s not much to milk, but that ain’t stopping them. After that, it finally gets to the massive blood loss, part one, that is the title to the episode.
Problem being that all they have to show it is sudden explosion and then viruses rushing in, which you might recall is how they’ve shown every goddamned thing else so far, from minor cuts and scrapes to eating bad sushi to having an allergy to pollen. You’ve treated every single thing as an apocalyptic crisis, so you’ve got nowhere to go to escalate things. Could’ve tried to put together some kind of character relationship, even in the eleventh hour, which is what I imagine the “Oh no, she must be dead. I see her hat in rubble” thing was supposed to be, but I just feel embarrassed for all of us if anybody does anything but roll their eyes at that.
